Royal Oak - Cerdd Cymraeg

July 31st, 2017

As part of the Gar Gwyl event Llanelli Online followed Welsh folk group 'Y Plebs' around Felinfoel. These specialist Welsh musicians 'jammed' playing tradtitional Celtic-Welsh instruments. Interstingly there was a huge amount of interest from the locals in the pubs, not least in the harp.

It was a great night and proved that given the opportunity Welsh folk music can thrive in pubs and generate an interest, which in turn could see more musicians taking part in reviving many of the old songs and dances, which if left to fade may never be recovered.
